The Los Angeles Dodgers are searching for their 12th NL West title in 13 seasons, and superstar Mookie Betts has been a huge reason for the team’s success in recent years.
At 84-65 entering Monday, the Dodgers will look to continue their recent momentum and hold onto their slim 2.5-game division lead over the second-place San Diego Padres.
Betts arrived in Los Angeles ahead of the 2020 season, and in six seasons since then has already captured multiple World Series titles (2020, 2024). The 32-year-old veteran has also fully transitioned to shortstop after spending much of his career in the outfield.
In 2025, Betts had the first prolonged slump of his career, but has begun to tap back into his peak performance at the right time for Los Angeles. Over his last 12 games in the month of September, Betts has posted a .385 batting average, .429 on-base percentage, 1.159 OPS, four home runs and 16 RBIs.
Betts’ efforts over the past 12 seasons in MLB have earned him a long list of personal awards alongside team success, including an AL MVP for the Boston Red Sox in 2018, eight All-Star appearances, six Gold Gloves, seven Silver Sluggers and a Wilson Overall Defensive Player of the Year.
Ahead of Los Angeles’ series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, MLB announced that Betts would be the Dodgers’ nominee for the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award for his impact on the community.

Betts and his wife, Brianna, founded the 50/50 Foundation in 2021 to support youth in their community. The foundation focuses on providing resources that promote success both on and off the field, with an emphasis on physical activity, nutrition, mental health and financial literacy.
In January, Mookie Betts responded to the Los Angeles wildfires by donating over $30,000 in Nike apparel to those affected. He also provided direct financial support to a displaced family.
His community outreach extended to UCLA Children’s Hospital, where he launched the Betts on Us Fund—an initiative aimed at helping families of pediatric patients access essential health care services.
These efforts are part of a broader commitment Betts has made to uplift vulnerable communities across Los Angeles throughout the year. He has continued to embrace his community after they embraced him following the blockbuster trade from the Boston Red Sox. Betts has brought Los Angeles multiple championships with his community's support, and in return he’s supported them as he searches for a third ring as a member of the Dodgers.
