The Los Angeles Dodgers confirmed Tuesday that they intend to visit President Donald Trump at the White House next month.
All-Star shortstop Mookie Betts isn’t sure if he’ll join his teammates at the Oval Office.
Betts told the Los Angeles Times’ Jack Harris that he’ll talk with his family before deciding whether to attend the Dodgers’ April 7 White House ceremony. The eight-time All-Star did not specify if he’d visit the Capitol on April 8.
While with the Boston Red Sox, Betts did not visit the White House in 2019.
As of publication, Betts was the only Dodgers player who had publicly said they would not visit the White House or that they were unsure.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Tuesday that he’ll attend the White House ceremony. Roberts and his players visited the White House and then-President Joe Biden in July 2021 following their 2020 title.
“I’m going,” Roberts said.
“I respect the position,” Roberts added, according to ESPN. “It’s the highest office in our country, certainly in the world, so, looking forward to it.”
The Dodgers aren’t the only champions with an upcoming White House trip. Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles intend to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX victory on April 28.
The Ohio State Buckeyes football team also recently accepted a White House invite and will visit Trump on April 14.
