Dodgers' Mookie Betts Shares Three-Word Reaction to Rafael Devers Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers saw a division rival, contending for the top spot in the National League West, make a considerable move to bolster their team. The San Francisco Giants and the Boston Red Sox swung a massive deal, sending Rafael Devers to the Giants for two MLB starters and a couple of prospects.

After the move was confirmed, the baseball world went wild. Rarely do players of Devers' magnitude get moved, and if they do, there is typically significantly more smoke leading up to their completion.

However, this isn't the first time a Red Sox superstar was sent out west, as Mookie Betts was in a very similar situation not too long ago. After the deal was made, Betts commented on the move, sharing a simple three-word message that many baseball fans agree with.

In an article from Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, Betts commented on the Devers deal, saying, "It's just crazy." Betts also said that, "I genuinely don't care, it just is what it is."

For Betts, the move that Boston pulled off isn't unfamiliar. He was also sent away from the team not long after winning the 2018 World Series with Boston. While not the same situation entirely, it's not the first time the Red Sox have pulled off this kind of move.

Betts and Devers were teammates on that 2018 World Series team for Boston. Now, not long after such a great run, they are both on the opposite side of the country playing for new teams in a new division.

Now, Betts and Devers are in the same division again and will compete for the NL West title with their respective teams. The Giants sit just two games behind the Dodgers, so the addition of Devers could play a huge role in San Francisco jumping in front of the Dodgers.

This move stunned the baseball world, Betts included. Not only did he witness a similar situation unfold that he had experienced years prior, but it was done in a much shadier manner. Betts' response of "It's just crazy" is a sentiment shared by fans, media, executives, and players across the baseball world.
