The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Michael Grove on the 60-day injured list as part of setting their Opening Day roster for the Tokyo Series.

Brusdar Graterol also was put on the 60-day IL as the Dodgers needed corresponding 40-man roster moves to select the contracts of Luis Garcia and Roki Sasaki.

Grove already was ruled out from pitching this season after undergoing right shoulder surgery this month. He likely would have started the season in the Dodgers’ bullpen if not for the injury.

In addition to Graterol and Grove, the Dodgers currently are without Edgardo Henriquez, Michael Kopech and Evan Phillips as bullpen options.

In addition to his shoulder injury, Grove dealt with a right intercostal strain last season that resulted in spending nearly two months on the injured list. Grove pitched 51 innings over 39 appearances (two starts), finishing with a 5.12 ERA, 3.87 FIP and 1.22 WHIP.

He was included on the Dodgers’ playoff roster for the National League Division Series but was replaced by Ben Casparius prior to Game 3 because of the right shoulder injury.

Manager Dave Roberts said this spring that Grove attempted to continue pitching through the shoulder trouble in effort to avoid a lost season to surgery.

Grove still has three years of team control remaining after this season as the 28-year-old is set to become arbitration-eligible in 2026.

Michael Grove stats

Grove has pitched to a 5.48 ERA and 4.35 FIP in 64 games (20 starts) for the Dodgers. He was developed as a starting pitcher but embraced a swingman role, if not being an outright reliever.

Grove has performed better out the bullpen, posting a 4.77 ERA and 3.55 FIP compared to his 6.05 ERA and 4.98 FIP as a starter.
