Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin had a disappointing outing against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits in four innings with five walks and three strikeouts. The 31-year-old allowed a leadoff homer to Zach Neto in the top of the first before giving up a two-run shot to Taylor Ward in the same frame.

Gonsolin executed a perfect second inning, but coughed up a RBI single to Travis d'Arnaud in the third. The veteran followed up with a no-hit fourth inning, although he walked two batters.

Gonsolin's day was done after 97 pitches, and he explained why postgame, via MLB.com's Sonja Chen.

"Gonsolin said he had some dead skin on his thumb after his pregame bullpen," she reported. "He picked it off but got a little carried away and 'took some good skin with it.' He later used a skin adhesive to stop the bleeding."

The 6-foot-3-inch, 205-pounder earned a no decision, as southpaw reliever Anthony Banda (3-1) got tagged with the loss after alowing one run in two innings.

Gonsolin is 2-0 with a 4.05 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in four starts. The Dodgers (29-18) drafted the 2022 All-Star in the ninth round of the 2016 MLB Draft, and he owns a career record of 36-11 with a 3.17 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 82 appearances.

The Dodgers will host the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-game series starting on Monday before traveling to play the New York Mets and Cleveland Guardians. Meanwhile, the Angels (20-25) will hit the road to face the Athletics before hosting the Miami Marlins and New York Yankees.
