The Los Angeles Dodgers received encouraging news on Tyler Glasnow's recovery Friday, as the right-hander is set to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Class A Ontario. According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Glasnow is scheduled to throw two innings in his first game action since landing on the injured list in early May with recurring back spasms.

The update comes as the Dodgers continue their weekend series against the Boston Red Sox while evaluating their pitching depth ahead of Monday's MLB trade deadline.

Glasnow made seven starts before his injury and looked like one of the National League's top pitchers, going 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA, a 0.83 WHIP and 49 strikeouts across 39.2 innings. His return marks the next step in a lengthy recovery after recurring back issues delayed his progress for nearly three months.

The Dodgers also received another positive development on the pitching front, with Blake Snell scheduled to make what is expected to be his final rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Having both starters nearing a return could influence how aggressively Los Angeles approaches the trade deadline.

Those developments are particularly significant as the Dodgers continue to be linked with Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal. While the club has been connected to several frontline starters, Glasnow's progress and Snell's impending return could reduce the urgency to part with premium prospects.

Los Angeles entered Saturday with a 69-41 record, holding an 11-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks atop the National League West. That comfortable advantage allows the Dodgers to carefully build Glasnow's workload instead of rushing him back into the major league rotation.

The club is also working through recent bullpen concerns after placing Brock Stewart on the injured list. Even so, Glasnow's rehab assignment represents another encouraging step for a pitching staff that could soon welcome back two key starters during the final stretch of the regular season.
