The defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers look like they're picking up where they left off at the end of October by winning each of their first seven games to start this season.
After his historic 2024 campaign, Shohei Ohtani is off to a solid start in 2025, and he has started to work on his pitching during bullpen sessions, although it isn't known when he will start pitching again in actual games.
In the meantime, the Dodgers made a big Ohtani-related announcement prior to their game on Wednesday versus the Atlanta Braves.
They have announced that half of the proceeds from a raffle they're holding on Wednesday will go toward the rebuilding efforts in the Los Angeles area following the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires on Ohtani's behalf.
Together, the two wildfires destroyed many thousands of structures and killed a total of at least 29 people. The Palisades fire almost completely destroyed the Pacific Palisades section of Los Angeles, which is a mostly upscale beachside community sandwiched between Malibu and Santa Monica.
Ohtani, in his first season with the Dodgers last year, became the first player in Major League Baseball history to post at least 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same season.
Overall, he led the National League in homers and RBIs and won his third MVP award in four years as Los Angeles won its first world championship in a full season since 1988.
