Dodgers star pitcher implodes in third inning vs. Phillies

Perhaps the Los Angeles Dodgers have one hole on their roster after all.

In the bottom of the third inning of their road game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow imploded. He walked four batters, allowed an RBI single and gave up another earned run on a wild pitch.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts then pulled Glasnow. He left the game with the bases loaded and no outs. When relief pitcher Alex Vesia replaced Glasnow, things went from bad to worse for L.A.

Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos crushed an 89 mph four-seam fastball from Vesia for a grand slam, giving Philadelphia a 6-2 lead.

The disastrous inning against Philadelphia highlights why pitching depth could be a concern for the reigning World Series champions.

Before Sunday's game against Philadelphia, the Dodgers placed starting pitcher Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation. In his first two games this season, the two-time Cy Young winner posted a 2.00 ERA and had a 1-0 record. The Dodgers now have 13 pitchers on the IL after Snell's injury update.

The Dodgers rotation still has plenty of time to get healthy, but if it doesn't, that could prove costly later in the season.
