The Braves badly needed a win yesterday to avoid being swept by the Giants, and Eddie Rosario provided a lot of the offense in a narrow 3-0 victory. After hitting a triple with only one out and failing to score, Rosario splashed down into McCovey Cove to give the Braves some insurance:

After that, Rosario only needed the single to complete the cycle, and he got it done easily:

What’s even crazier is how Rosario completed the cycle. Jeremy Frank (@MLBRandomStats) says that Rosario got his cycle more efficiently than anyone in MLB history:

Eddie Rosario hit for the cycle on only 5 total pitches seen today, the fewest in the @baseball_ref database for any player to hit for the cycle (guaranteed since 1990, plus various games before then)

The previous fewest we have is 8 by Neifi Perez on 7/25/1998. Beat it by a lot

Rosario has been incredible since joining the Braves, and he has made a strong case for an extension. Historically hitting for the cycle is only going to strengthen that case.
