ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney Details Huge Impact of Jasson Dominguez on the New York Yankees
USA TODAY Sports

The New York Yankees lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 8-2 on Friday night.

At 70-71, in last place in the American League East and 8.0 games back of the wild card, the wins and losses don't matter as much for the Yankees as the development of young players like Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez.

The 20-year-old Dominguez has come up and been incredible over the last week for New York, hitting four home runs in his first seven games.

ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney joined 'The Brady Farkas Show' on Thursday afternoon to discuss what he's seen from Dominguez and the impact he's had already:

"Jasson Dominguez gives the Yankees exactly what they need in this moment. Besides the energy that comes with fielding a lot of young players, you've got a switch-hitter for a team that has been way too right-handed in recent years. You have someone who runs well, who adds athleticism, a centerfielder, and you've got someone with power...He has had an immediate impact..."

Dominguez is the No. 76 prospect in all of baseball.

Here's a portion of his prospect profile from MLB.com:

Perhaps the most hyped international prospect ever, Domínguez drew comparisons to Bo Jackson, Mickey Mantle and Mike Trout before signing for $5.1 million out of the Dominican Republic. He earned the nickname "The Martian" because of his otherworldly tools, and while he may have a difficult time living up to unrealistic expectations, he's on course to becoming at least a solid regular. He batted .273/.375/.461 with 16 homers and 37 steals in 2022 while advancing from Single-A to Double-A at age 19.

The Yankees and Brewers will play again on Saturday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. ET.
