Following the All-Star Game break, the St. Louis Cardinals remain in the hunt for a postseason spot.
Heading down the home stretch of the regular season, the Cardinals may turn to a former All-Star to add a spark to their lineup.
According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, former All-Star shortstop Paul DeJong is expected to join the Cardinals taxi squad and could be activated for this weekend's series against the Washington Nationals.

The 28-year-old struggled to start the season with the Cardinals before eventually being sent down to Triple-A Memphis in May.
In 24 games this season for St. Louis, DeJong batted .130/.209/.208 with a home run and seven RBI.
DeJong has seemingly turned things around at the plate during his minor league stint. In 51 games for Memphis, DeJong batted .249/.313/.552 with 17 home runs and 54 RBI.
An All-Star in 2019, DeJong has failed to regain that form since. After hammering 30 home runs and driving in 78 runs in 2019, DeJong has just 23 homers and 77 RBI over the past three seasons combined.
