No matter what people want to say about former Chicago Cubs fan favorite Kris Bryant, he's one of the top players in franchise history.
Bryant, who hasn't had the career he was hoping for after leaving Chicago, will be remembered forever in the Windy City. A member of the 2016 World Series team, Bryant was once a highly regarded player and one of the top players in baseball.
During the 2016 campaign, he was better than ever, hitting a career high 39 home runs and posting a 146 OPS+. He finished with a 7.3 WAR and won the National League MVP award.
While it hasn't gone as planned since leaving Chicago to play for the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies, Major League Baseball’s Players Association made an impressive announcement about Bryant on Wednesday, highlighting that he has reached his 10-year mark as an MLB player.
"Today, we highlight Kris Bryant -- the first Player of the 2025 season to reach the 10-Year mark! The Las Vegas native was selected by the Cubs as the 2nd pick in the 2013 draft. His resume includes Rookie of the Year and NL MVP Awards, four All-Star nods and a World Championship ring in stops with the @Cubs, @SFGiants and @Rockies. Congratulations on 10 Years, @KrisBryant_23!"
Ten years of service time isn’t something that every player gets to hit.
According to MLBPA, fewer than 10% of players have ever accomplished this feat. Bryant, who deserves it from top to bottom, will now be treated handsomely for the rest of his life by Major League Baseball.
Thank YOU for a great career, Bryant.
