Former Dodgers Reliever Ryan Brasier Speaks Out Following Trade to Cubs

The Los Angeles Dodgers made an influx of bullpen moves this offseason, leading to Ryan Brasier being designated for assignment and later traded to the Chicago Cubs for cash considerations and a potential player to be named later.

He was a reliable bullpen piece with Los Angeles and a key piece in their dominant bullpen this past postseason.

Brasier broke his silence after leaving the team he won the 2024 World Series with.

“I definitely didn’t have that on my bingo card for the offseason,” Brasier said, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. “I was surprised, but I get it. I’ve been around long enough where I understand they’ve got to make decisions. You don’t always have to like ‘em or agree with ‘em. But I ended up in a good spot."

The Cubs will serve as the fourth destination for the 37-year-old right-hander.

In 2023, Brasier posted a 0.70 ERA over 38 2/3 innings for the Dodgers, the best showing of his career.

The move cleared some money off what Los Angeles owed Brasier after he signed a two-year, $9 million extension just a year ago.

The Dodgers already have great right-handed options in the bullpen heading into the 2025 season, with guys like Kirby Yates, Michael Kopech, and Blake Treinen.
