This week, Justin Turner hosted the 9th annual Justin Turner Foundation golf tournament at Sherwood Country Club. AM 570 Sports David Vassegh sat down with Turner at his golf tournament, and he provided Los Angeles Dodgers fans with exciting news, telling Vassegh that he wants to retire as a Dodger.
“Yeah, I think it’s pretty obvious the biggest chunk of my career came in L.A., and it was nine years,” Turner said. “And the turning point in my career came when I put the Dodger uniform on.
“The one title I won was with the Dodgers. I don’t want to even get down to that yet, but it’s probably a slam dunk to happen that way. But I don’t know. We’ll see what happens. The beauty after L.A. is I’ve gotten to go and experience four other great organizations with a ton of great people. It’s hard to say.
“You don’t want to piss anyone off by choosing one organization, but if there was one, I think the obvious one would be the Dodgers.”
At 40 years old, the Chicago Cubs decided to decline Turner’s $10 million option this fall. However, Turner is beloved by Los Angeles and has so many memorable moments wearing the Dodger Blue. Fans love Turner’s long red hair and big bushy red beard, giving the team energy by making clutch plays throughout his time as a Dodger.

For nine seasons, Turner stood at the heart of the clubhouse. A two-time All-Star and the 2017 NLCS MVP, he was a driving force behind the 2020 World Series run. He’s moved on to stints with the Cubs, Mariners, Blue Jays, and Red Sox, but his legacy in Los Angeles remains unmistakable.
While he would likely sign a one-day contract with LA, with Max Muncy consistently dealing with injuries, Turner can still provide valuable contributions at third base throughout next season if he decides to join the club as a free agent this winter. Dodgers fans would be thrilled to have a fun, lovable hero like Turner back on the team to give the Dodgers a much-needed spark to win Turner his 2nd ring and, of course, complete a historic three-peat.
