Jankowski was with the Texas Rangers for the past two seasons and played a key role on their 2023 World Series-winning team. After an outfield injury, he moved into the starting lineup for Games 4 and 5, both of which were victories.
He went 2-for-8 at the plate with two runs and two RBIs en route to the franchise's first title.
In 2021, Jankowski appeared in 76 games for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was added as a depth outfielder and eventually earned consistent playing time due to injuries to starters.
Although his time with the Phillies was brief, Jankowski became a fan favorite in Philadelphia. His long hair and smooth defense drew comparisons to modern-day Brandon Marsh. Former manager Joe Girardi also appeared to have an affinity for him.
Jankowski also had a strong June and July at the plate in 2021.
He batted .311 with a staggering .810 OPS, one of the best stretches of his career. He hit one home run and stole four bases, which was low for a player who had posted seasons with 30 and 24 stolen bases, but he will be remembered fondly for his service.
Now 33, Jankowski will have another shot at the big leagues with the White Sox. He was with the Chicago Cubs during the early portion of spring training, but that relationship quickly dissolved.
His best days are likely behind him, and he is probably a fourth outfielder at best, should he return to the MLB. However, he remains another example of a glue guy who can provide value in various ways.
