Former Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres' Pitcher Heads to Taiwan to Continue Career

Margevicius has 32 career appearances to his name, including 22 starts. Lifetime, he's 4-11 with a 6.12 ERA but he was a useful contributor to the 2020 Mariners. He made seven starts during the pandemic-shortened season and won two games for Seattle.

Unfortunately, injuries have hurt him the last few years. He missed most of 2021 with thoracic outlet syndrome and though he pitched in 2022, he didn't make it back to the majors.

He was with the Braves organization in 2023 but also didn't make the majors again. He went 3-3 for the Braves at Double-A and Triple-A with a 6.82 ERA in 21 games.

While it could be seen as disappointing to leave affiliated ball, it's likely a good decision for Margevicius. He's surely guaranteed a more prominent role in Taiwan and could also be guaranteed more money over what he'd make in the minors.

Furthermore, considering he's still young, he could always come back to the States in subsequent seasons. We've recently seen Chris Flexen come back from Korea and find success. Erik Fedde this offseason signed with the White Sox and is looking to do the same thing.

The CPBL plays a split-season, complete with a 60-game first half and a 60-game second half.
