Former Tennessee Vols star Christian Moore having a week that will be impossible for the Los Angeles Angels to ignore
USA TODAY Sports

Former Tennessee Vols slugger Christian Moore made a big jump this month from AA to AAA.  And with the way he's been playing since, it's not farfetched to see an even bigger jump in his near future.

Moore was promoted on May 20 from the Los Angeles Angels' AA affiliate Rocket City Trash Pandas to AAA Salt Lake Bees. It's safe to say his start with them has been a good one.

Moore has appeared in 5 games this week with the Bees.  In 20 plate appearances, he has 10 hits with a home run, 7 RBIs, and 6 runs scored.

The Month of May has been a big improvement for Moore after a slow start to the season.  He had an average of .219 with an OPS of .712 in April in AA.  Through May 24, Moore is hitting .324 with an OPS of .794 for the month of May across AA and AAA.

Moore, who the Angels drafted back in July with the 8th overall pick, is surely someone who is in the Angels' plans for the near future.  The question is: how soon is that future, and could it be this year?  The Angels have surged recently on an 8-game win streak (which ended on Saturday night) and at 25-26 are back in the picture for the postseason for the time being.

However, current second baseman Luis Rengifo is hitting only .190 for the month of May. One has to wonder if perhaps Moore might have an opportunity sooner than later with the big club.

Regardless, Moore has shown that he's handled his new promotion very well.  Vol fans will surely be watching closely to see when the next one takes place.
