Kansas City Royals No. 1 prospect Jac Caglianone certainly turned heads last month for Double-A Northwest Arkansas, but it was one of his former teammates who earned Player of the Month honors.
Naturals second baseman Peyton Wilson was announced as the Texas League Player of the Month for April on Monday by Minor League Baseball.

The switch-hitting former University of Alabama product slashed .392/.505/.689 in 19 games with Northwest Arkansas, and led the league in a number of categories including hits (29), total bases (51), and OPS (1.194). He also recorded nine-multi hit games and began the season on a 15-game hit streak.
Wilson was promoted to Triple-A Omaha on April 29. He wasn't the only Royals prospect awarded however.
Quad Cities (High-A) left-hander Frank Mozzicato, the Royals No. 12 prospect, was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Month. He went 1-0 with a 1.27 ERA in four starts for the River Bandits in April. In 21 and 1/3 innings pitched last month, he held opponents to a .110 batting average, second-lowest in the Minors among pitchers with at least 20 innings.
The 21-year-old Manchester, Conn. native was originally selected as the seventh overall pick by the Royals in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Columbia Fireflies (Single-A) Speedster Asbel Gonzalez - the Royals No. 23 prospect - earned Carolina League Player of the Month honors. He slashed .398/.510/.422 last month, leading the league in runs (23), hits (33) and stolen bases (30). According to MLB.com , his 30 stolen bases in April are the most by a Minor League player since Bakersfield’s Billy Hamilton stole 29 in 2012.
The 19-year-old from Maracay, Venezuela signed with the Royals as an international free agent in January 2023.
