Former Vols star Christian Moore makes big impression on Angels teammates and not just because of his home run against the Astros

Former Tennessee Vols baseball standout Christian Moore hit his first career home run on Friday night in the Los Angeles Angels' 3-2 loss to the Houston Astros.

Moore, a first round selection by the Angels in the 2024 MLB Draft, homered in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie the game at two.

That was a big home run for the Angels (even though Los Angeles would go on to lose the game). It was the kind of heroics that Tennessee fans grew accustomed to during Moore's time in Knoxville.

But that home run wasn't the lasting image of Moore on Friday night.

Earlier in the game, Angels shortstop Zach Neto was hit in the hand by a pitch from Astros RHP Hunter Brown, which led to both benches clearing.

Moore was one of the first players out of the Angels' dugout, and he apparently said something to Brown that made the RHP momentarily lose his mind.

It's not a surprise to anyone that watched Moore's college career that he was one of the first players out of the dugout -- even though he's only been in the big leagues for a week. Moore is the ultimate competitor and an elite teammate. The kid just wants to win.

By the way, before Moore and Neto were teammates with the Angels, they faced each other in the Knoxville Regional in 2022. Moore and Tennessee beat Neto and Campbell 12-7 in an exciting back and forth game.

Moore, who was a freshman at the time, delivered a pinch hit RBI single in the 9th inning to help put the game away. Neto, meanwhile, went 3-for-5 and was hailed by Vols head coach Tony Vitello after the game as a future "first rounder".
