The New York Mets won their second straight series with Sunday's 6-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs, thanks to many contributors on both sides of the ball. Mark Vientos hit a homer and an RBI single, while Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo also went yard.

Right-hander Griffin Canning allowed just one run on two hits in six innings, throwing 58 strikes out of 92 pitches and producing five strikeouts against one walk. Reliever Ryan Stanek (1-3) earned his first win of the season after tossing a scoreless eighth.

Lindor sounded off after the Mets (26-15) secured the victory, via SNY.

"It's cool to go up into the 7th, 8th, 9th inning feeling like one of us is going to get it done, we have a really good lineup," the star shortstop said.

With the score tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, New York went on a four-run rally that was kick-started by Lindor's solo blast to right center. Vientos then plated Pete Alonso on his single before Nimmo hit his two-run homer to right center.

Lindor finished 2-for-4 in the game and is now slashing .301/.368/.509 on the season, along with nine homers and 26 RBI.

New York is two games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies atop the NL East, and is a half-game behind the San Diego Padres, Detroit Tigers, and Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in baseball.

The Mets will host the Pittsburgh Pirates in a three-game set starting Monday, followed by a Subway Series at Yankee Stadium.
