It has yet to occur.

At his Citi Field press conference on Tuesday for signing a four-year, $50 million contract extension, Mets second baseman Jeff McNeil revealed that he has still not received a new car from star shortstop Francisco Lindor.

“I did send Lindor a pretty good video of some very nice cars the other day,” McNeil said, later revealing that the cars were of Italian origin. “Any one of those I’m sure will be up to my standards.”

In response to McNeil, Lindor texted back: "Those are nice cars."

The origin of this agreement came back in May after a win over the Philadelphia Phillies, in which Lindor told McNeil he'd buy him a car if he won the batting title.

And that's exactly how things played out. McNeil went on to win the MLB batting title for hitting .326.

As far as when and what type of car Lindor might gift McNeil, the 30-year-old future recipient of a new vehicle said he will wait-and-see.

“Still don’t have a car,” he said. “We’ll see what happens in spring training.”
