The Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing for a run at a third straight World Series title, and first basemanFreddie Freeman remains one of the most reliable anchors in their pursuit.
Now entering his fifth season with the organization, Freeman continues to defy age and set the standard at his position. In 2025, the 36‑year‑old veteran posted a .295 batting average, .367 on‑base percentage, .869 OPS, 24 home runs and 90 RBIs across 147 games.
He earned his ninth career All‑Star selection for his first‑half performance, adding to an impressive list of accomplishments that already includes one National League MVP, one Gold Glove Award, three Silver Sluggers and three championships. Freeman has two seasons remaining on the six‑year, $162 million contract he signed in 2022.
But Freeman’s time in Los Angeles has not been without hardship. In 2024, the Freeman family endured a frightening stretch when their son, Maximus, was diagnosed with a rare neurological illness in which the body’s immune system attacks its nerves.
After receiving treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Maximus made a full recovery and returned home, but the experience was life‑changing for Freeman and his wife, Chelsea. Freeman missed eight games during the 2024 season while supporting his family.
Grateful for the care their son received, the Freemans donated $1 million to the hospital last year. On Wednesday, Freeman announced that the hospital used the donation to build an Exploratorium for children, named in honor of the couple.
The caption read, “Celebrating the naming and ribbon‑cutting of the Freddie and Chelsea Freeman Exploratorium at Rady Children’s Health Orange County, formerly CHOC.”
Freeman continued by explaining the motivation behind their decision to give back, rooted in Maximus’s journey.
“As parents, Chelsea and I have experienced firsthand the importance of specialized pediatric care through our journey with our son, Max. That experience inspired our commitment to @chocchildrens and @chocfoundation to help ensure other families never have to worry about where to turn when their child needs care. We’re grateful to be part of creating a brighter future for kids and families,” the post continued.
As the Dodgers begin their push for a historic three‑peat, Freeman’s leadership and steady production remain central to everything they do. His impact stretches far beyond the field, but on it, he continues to be one of the most dependable hitters in baseball. Los Angeles will lean on that presence again in 2026 as they chase another championship.
