Freddie Freeman overwhelming World Series MVP favorite

In one week, Freddie Freeman’s gone from being barely able to jog to the overwhelming favorite to be named World Series MVP.

Freeman suffered a severely sprained ankle during the last week of the regular season, which doctors said typically takes four to six weeks to heal. However, this is the playoffs, so he was obviously going to do everything possible to play. The first baseman was understandably hobbled and struggled mightily throughout the first two postseason rounds. Things got so bad he actually sat out a key game against the Mets in the NLCS.

However, things changed in a hurry once the Fall Classic kicked off.

Freeman slugged the first-ever walk-off grand slam in World Series history, launching a no-doubter with two outs in the bottom of the 10^th inning to give Los Angeles a 6-3 Game 1 win. He also hit a homer in the team’s 4-2 Game 2 victory and then set the tone in Game 3’s 4-2 win by slugging a two-run bomb in the top of the first to silence the Yankees Stadium crowd.

In the process, Freeman joined Barry Bonds and Hank Bauer as the only players to homer in the first three games of a World Series. Additionally, this marked his fifth-straight World Series game in which he went deep, tying the all-time record.

Freeman opened at +3500 to win MVP at DraftKings. Now, thanks to his heroics that have the Dodgers one win away from a title, he’s the overwhelming favorite at -1600. He has a massive lead over any other player, as Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto are the next closest at -2000.
