Freddie Freeman shares hilarious Braves minor league story

Freddie Freeman is an all-time great. He spent 12 seasons with the Braves, a six-time All-Star while with the club, a Gold Glove winner, and a three-time Silver Slugger, to go along with his MVP award from the 2020 campaign and a World Series championship in his final season in Atlanta.

However, before all of that, he made his way through the farm en route to his MLB debut with the Braves in 2010. He was drafted out of high school in 2007 in the second round and went on to make his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Braves later that year before moving on to Rome in 2008. By 2010, he was in Triple-A Gwinnett.

Eventually, Freeman joined the major league club and put up an impressive rookie campaign in 2011, batting .282 with 32 doubles, 21 home runs, and 76 RBI in 157 games played. Unfortunately, Freeman finished second to teammate Craig Kimbrel in the NL Rookie of the Year balloting. The rest is history.

Freeman went on to have one the greatest careers in Braves franchise history, capped off with the club’s first championship since 1995. Now, he’s a member of one of the team’s biggest rivals in the Los Angeles Dodgers. Some still have hard feelings, but when he retires and is enshrined in the Hall of Fame, it will be as an Atlanta Brave.
