Giants Get Bo Davidson Update After Loss to Twins

Bo Davidson avoided a major injury scare after the San Francisco Giants rookie outfielder was forced to leave Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

Davidson fouled a ball off his right foot in the sixth inning and appeared to be in significant pain. However, he remained in the game for two more innings before the Giants removed him from the outfield in the ninth.

Manager Tony Vitello provided the update after the game, confirming that X-rays on Davidson’s foot came back negative for a fracture. Davidson did foul the ball off the same spot that previously delayed his call-up from Triple-A Sacramento.

Davidson had only been in the majors for three games after the Giants promoted him on Sept. 21. The 24-year-old entered Wednesday batting 2-for-7 with a stolen base and a run scored, according to NBC Sports.

The rookie also went 1-for-3 with a run scored before leaving Wednesday’s game. His first major league hit came in his first at-bat Monday against Minnesota, when he lined a single to right field at 103.8 mph.

Davidson’s latest setback comes as the Giants continue to deal with injuries across their roster. Jung Hoo Lee and Bryce Eldridge were recently placed on the injured list, while several other regulars remain sidelined.

For now, Davidson appears to be day-to-day rather than facing a long-term absence. The Giants have three games remaining, all against the Los Angeles Dodgers, giving the rookie limited time to add to his first taste of major league action if his foot allows.
