The San Francisco Giants are 3–5 since acquiring Rafael Devers in a surprising blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox.

That said, the Red Sox haven’t fared any better. They’ve gone 3–6 since parting ways with Devers and are currently riding a five-game losing streak, including a recent three-game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels.

On Thursday, with the Giants trailing early against the Miami Marlins, Devers stepped up in the third inning and delivered a much-needed two-run homer—his 17th of the season. The blast not only gave San Francisco a spark, but also marked a major personal milestone for the star slugger.

With the home run, Devers officially reached 700 career RBIs since making his MLB debut with the Red Sox in 2017, drawing a quick reaction from the Giants on social media shortly after he rounded the bases.

"A milestone for Devers," Giants posted.

Fans reacted to the accomplishment from their newest star:

"he only guy on the team that can hit a baseball. Everyone else is praying for a walk," a fan said

Another fan posted, "On pace for over a thousand impressive."

Someone else added, "Congratulations Raffy. I think he will adapt just fine to hitting at Oracle Park."

"Rafael Devers. My MVP. Always I won’t apologize for rooting for Raffy’s success. Every day of every week of every year, for the rest of his career and life," one more fan commented.

Rafael Devers now has eight hits, two home runs, and five RBIs through his first nine games with the Giants. Entering Tuesday, San Francisco sits at 44–36 overall and third in the NL West.
