Giants signing Joc Pederson to one-year, $6M deal

Joc Pederson is heading home.

The Giants are signing Pederson to a one-year deal worth $6 million, per MLB Network's Jon Morosi and Jon Heyman. Pederson grew up in nearby Palo Alto.

San Francisco gains an experienced outfield talent who has been a part of two World Series winners, as recently as last season with the Braves. Pederson will likely slot into the middle of the Giants lineup and could play at all three outfield positions.

He was acquired from the Cubs midseason and proceeded to hit .249/.325/.428 with seven homers and 22 RBI over 64 games with Atlanta. He hit three homers over 48 postseason at-bats as the Braves went on to win the World Series over the Astros.

Giants fans are likely familiar with Pederson already, as he played the first seven seasons of his career with the division-rival Dodgers. He hit .230/.336/.470 over those seven years while clubbing 130 homers and logging 303 RBI. He was selected to the All-Star Game in 2015, his lone appearance at the Midsummer Classic.
