Giants’ Tony Vitello Has Upsetting Blade Tidwell Update 

The injury comes after Tidwell spent much of the season working between the rotation and bullpen. The rookie finishes his 2026 campaign with a 1-2 record, a 4.45 ERA and 46 strikeouts across 56.2 innings in 17 appearances, including nine starts.

Tidwell’s latest outing was one of his better recent appearances. He limited the Twins to one earned run while keeping his pitch count at 57 before the elbow discomfort surfaced afterward.

The Giants have already been eliminated from postseason contention and entered Tuesday at 65-92. That leaves the club with little at stake in the standings but plenty to evaluate heading into the offseason.

Tidwell had provided the Giants with another young arm to assess as they look toward next season. His injury now gives the organization another health situation to monitor as it works through the final games of 2026.

The immediate focus, however, remains on the MRI and finding out exactly what caused the elbow discomfort. Until those results are available, the Giants do not have a confirmed timeline for Tidwell’s return.
