For those keeping count at home, yes, we did hit both of our strikeout parlays last night at +124 and +427. Thank you for bringing that to our attention! It's been a nice week of plus-money player prop plays here at Bark Bets. Let's keep the train rolling.
We're allowed to bet homers on days that aren't Tuesday and this is one that looks like a terrific spot. Paul Goldschmidt has been having a marvelous year. You likely know this if you've been following MLB in any capacity. The National League MVP favorite has 31 homers on the year, and this afternoon looks to be a great day to get to 32. Goldschmidt will see Marcus Stroman on the mound, a welcome sight. In 15 plate appearances against the Cubs' righty, Goldy has knocked three homers. Couple that with some Chicago wind aiding a +17% increase to HRs and this is a bet we just have to make.
Jose Ramirez has been one of our favorites this past month, continually racking up hits when we pair him in one of these parlays. He's fresh off a three-hit performance and will see Marco Gonzales this afternoon. In four at-bats, Ramirez has a pair of singles and a double off the Seattle lefty. With a hit in 22 of his past 30 games, we want a piece of the Cleveland slugger today. His partner will be Jonathan India of the Reds. India has four hits in five at-bats against Aaron Nola for a cool .800 average. Riding an eight-game hitting streak, a slightly better average against RHP, and a hit in 24 of his last 30 games, we like looking to India to wrap up this play.
While neither of these two hitters have significant history against the day's starters, we can't ignore how well they've been hitting the baseball. McNeil has a hit in 24 of his last 30 games and hits .324 off righties, which he'll get today in Ryan Feltner. Feltner is nothing to write home about and has struggled on the road this year, allowing 22 hits in his past three away starts. Guerrero is absolutely rolling, recording 1+ hit in 27 of his past 30 games. He's hitting RHP better and is 1-3 against Kutter Crawford. That's more than enough for us to bet on one of baseball's best hitters.
Lakers trade for Patrick Beverley — The Utah Jazz continue to ship out talent, trading guard Patrick Beverley to the Lakers in exchange for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson. While Beverley is getting up there in age (34 years old), his defensive ferocity figures to be vital to Los Angeles' success this upcoming season. If you believe the floodgates are opening for guards to win Defensive Player of the Year again after Marcus Smart did so last season, you can grab Beverley at +15000 on DraftKings. Just sayin'.
A betting pick for the PGA Tour Championship — With the PGA Tour Championship teeing off this morning, it's not too late to bring in information to inform your weekend wagers on the event. We have you covered there with betting insights and thoughts on the field, with Xander Schauffele as a name to consider. Schauffele is +650 to win, the third-best odds, and few in the sport are playing better than him over the past few weeks. With prior success at this East Lake course, consider a bet on Schauffele to win the weekend, and keep an eye on how his Thursday goes.
Max Verstappen looks like a good bet in F1 this weekend — We've had this Formula One weekend circled for awhile. Why? Back in July, Max Verstappen was asked about his favorite racing track, citing this Spa track in Belgium. "It would be a big shame to lose Spa. It's my favorite track in the world," was just a snippet of what Verstappen had to say. The Belgium Grand Prix is here, and it would be a shame if Verstappen doesn't win. We bet him at -115.
