The Cleveland Guardians are hosting the Toronto Blue Jays for the third and final game of their three-game series on Thursday. Each team split the first two games of the series.
Entering Thursday's game, the Guardians have won three of their last four games and five of their last 10. Though they are still 8.5 games behind the Detroit Tigers, they are gaining momentum and traction in the division.
As Cleveland looks to continue climbing the standings, they will aim to keep their momentum going and string together as many victories as possible. However, the team made an announcement regarding star third baseman Jose Ramirez that could make things a bit difficult for them to do so.
Ramirez has been crucial to Cleveland's recent success and hit the walk-off home run against the Blue Jays on Wednesday. On the year, the 32-year-old is batting .318 with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs. However, he had to leave Thursday's game, which could halt some of the Guardians' momentum.
In the fourth inning, Ramirez was hit by a pitch and left the game. According to Guardians reporter Tim Stebbins, Ramirez has been diagnosed with a bruised right forearm, and his X-rays came back negative.
"José Ramírez left with a bruised right forearm. x-rays were negative," Stebbins wrote on X.

After Thursday's game, Cleveland will remain home and host the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game series. Until then, however, all eyes will be on Ramirez as his status will be crucial to monitor for fans.
