Guardians dealt Chase DeLauter injury concern during winning streak

The Cleveland Guardians are on a five-game winning streak, as Cleveland won its fifth consecutive contest with a 4-2 victory against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night. One player was noticeably absent from the lineup, however. According to MLB.com, outfielder Chase DeLauter is dealing with left hamstring tightness and his return is “TBD” at the moment.

The Guardians are surging up the standings but the last thing they need is for DeLauter to miss time. Cleveland’s lineup is beginning to finally produce and DeLauter has played a crucial role. The 24-year-old rookie is hitting .288 to go along with an .813 OPS and 13 home runs.

In all reality, DeLauter has been one of the best hitters on the Guardians this season. He did miss time with an injury earlier in the season, so he’s only appeared in 110 games. Nevertheless, DeLauter’s impact while on the field has been undeniable. Despite its recent success, the lineup needs all of the help it can get.

Cleveland is now only 2.5 games back of first place in the American League Central. The Guards also currently hold the final AL Wild Card spot. The team looked lost a few weeks ago, but they are suddenly reestablishing themselves as a legitimate contender in the American League.

Cleveland will look to add another victory to its winning streak on Tuesday night in Anaheim against the Angels. First pitch is scheduled for 9:38 PM ET.
