The Cleveland Guardians made several pitching-related roster moves following their series loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, reshaping both their bullpen and rotation depth for the final stretch of the season.
Right-hander Colin Holderman was placed on the 15-day injured list, while Slade Cecconi was activated from the IL. Cleveland also recalled right-hander Austin Peterson from Triple-A Columbus and designated Carlos Hernández for assignment.
The transactions were reported by Guardians beat writer Tim Stebbins, who shared the four-player roster shuffle on X.

Holderman’s move creates another opening in a Cleveland bullpen that could be especially important as the club continues its push toward the postseason. Cecconi’s return gives the Guardians another available arm after his own stint on the injured list.
Peterson will also get an opportunity at the major league level after earning a promotion from Columbus. The 26-year-old right-hander joins Cleveland at a critical point in the schedule as the Guardians look for additional pitching depth.
Hernández, meanwhile, was designated for assignment as part of the corresponding roster moves, ending his current stint on Cleveland’s 40-man roster.
The changes come after a difficult series against Toronto and with little room for error in the American League playoff race.
Cleveland entered Friday at 70-70, sitting three games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox in the AL Central while holding onto a position in the Wild Card picture.
That makes every roster decision increasingly important over the final weeks. The Guardians are attempting to close the gap in the division while also protecting themselves from the teams chasing them in the Wild Card standings.
With Holderman sidelined and new arms entering the mix, Cleveland will now look to its reshaped pitching staff to provide the consistency it needs down the stretch.
