HB2074 includes a measure that would recapture sales taxes from Chase Field and use it towards renovations including air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical issues. This bill would allow up to a maximum of $500 million in sales taxes from Chase Field for renovations, and Arizona Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick has already stated they would invest $250 million of their own money into these repairs.
There is one last step that needs to happen, as the bill now heads to the desk of Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs. The decision to sign this bill into law or veto it, now solely resides with her. Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has shown her support for HB2074:
I’m thrilled that the legislature has passed a bill that will keep the Diamondbacks in Phoenix and create good-paying jobs. This is a huge win for every Arizonan.
I appreciate the bipartisan elected officials and the business and labor leaders who came to the table and worked…
