When the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Hyeseong Kim and traded Gavin Lux during the offseason, it appeared he had the inside track to taking over the starting job at second base.

That’s where Kim played to begin Spring Training but he eventually started to receive starts at shortstop and center field as well. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained that was part of the club evaluating their options at second base and center field.

While Kim showed versatility in the field, he struggled to hit in Cactus League games and was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City to begin the season.

According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the Dodgers are recalling Kim on Saturday:

The Dodgers previously passed on the opportunity to call up Kim to their roster last month when Freddie Freeman was put on the 10-day injured list. Roberts explained Kim and top Dodgers prospect Dalton Rushing were not considered because of the limited opportunities to play while Freeman was expected to miss just the minimum amount of time required.

For Kim specifically, Roberts noted he was more of a long-term outlook for the organization. Thus, the Dodgers decided on adding Hunter Feduccia in his place.

Amid continued work to implement and refine new swing mechanics, Kim went through a hot stretch with the OKC Comets but has cooled off recently. Overall this season, he’s batting .252/.328/.470 with eight doubles, one triple, five home runs and 19 RBI in 28 games played for Oklahoma City.

Why is Hyeseong Kim joining Dodgers roster?

Kim is getting an opportunity with the Dodgers because of Tommy Edman likely going on the 10-day injured list due to a right ankle issue.

Edman missed the past two games and initially was expected to be back in the lineup by Saturday. Given that Kim plays the infield and outfield like Edman, he could be in line to quickly make his MLB debut.

White Sox rebuild already showing significant progress

The Chicago White Sox won only 41 games in 2024, setting a major league record for the most losses in a season. This season has already been better in Chicago. Although the White Sox remain in the AL Central basement, they won their 41st game of the season on Friday, a 6-3 victory over the Angels. The beginnings of the future core have started to take shape. Catchers Edgar Quero and Kyle Teel have performed admirably with the bat, giving the White Sox the potential for impressive depth behind the plate. Infielder Chase Meidroth has continued to put together strong at-bats and get on base. Third baseman Miguel Vargas has cooled down from a torrid May, but is still showing signs that he could be a building block. Fellow infielder Colson Montgomery had six homers in 23 games entering Saturday. The pitching staff needs more work but there are some building blocks at the major league level. Starters Shane Smith and Davis Martin look like solid back-of-the-rotation arms. Mike Vasil has been one of the more underrated relievers in the game. More pieces are coming through the pipeline. Top prospect Noah Schultz is expected to debut this season and could be a future ace. Pitcher Hagen Smith and outfielder Braden Montgomery should debut sometime in 2026. The White Sox may have reached rock bottom in 2024, but the future is bright. That future is coming sooner than one would expect. Yes, the White Sox have the second-worst record in the majors, but progress is being made. Those improvements can be seen in their record as the White Sox have already matched their win total from 2024.

DK Metcalf makes huge claim about Steelers defense

D.K. Metcalf has faced plenty of steep competition through his first six NFL seasons, both during games and practice, but the star wide receiver has noticed something different in his first training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers. During an interview with Ian Rapoport and Steve Smith of NFL Network on Sunday, Metcalf discussed some of his first impressions of the Steelers. He spoke about how challenging it has been to go up against cornerbacks Joey Porter Jr., Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay every day. When asked how the practice competition compares to what he saw with the Seattle Seahawks, Metcalf made a bold claim about his new teammates. "You don't want my opinion, because I think they're the best defense I've ever seen," Metcalf said. "There's some dogs everywhere on the field, and I tip my hat to them because they come to work every day and we don't have any choice but to get better." There is no question that the Steelers should have one of the best defensive backfields in the NFL on paper. While they sent five-time Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins in the Ramsey trade, their cornerback trio of Ramsey, Porter and Slay is as talented as any in the league. The Steelers allowed 20.4 points per game last year, which ranked eighth in the NFL. Their pass defense surrendered 228 yards per game, which only ranked 25th. If Metcalf's assessment is accurate, Pittsburgh should show great improvement against the pass in 2025.

'Superman' VOD Home Streaming Date Confirmed and It's Shockingly Soon

In a move that seems faster than a speeding bullet, the new 2025 Superman movie will be available to watch at home just over a month after it hit theaters on July 11. According to multiple outlets, including World of Reel, the new Superman reboot movie will be available for video-on-demand (VOD) purchase starting very soon. In fact, the movie will almost certainly still be in theaters when you can watch it at home. Superman Streaming/VOD release date DC Studios' Superman, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet, will be available for purchase digitally starting on August 15, 2025. This means that just over 30 days after its first theatrical release, the new Superman is coming home. To be clear, this is not the same as streaming on HBO Max, but it does mean you'll be able to pony up a certain amount of money (close to the price of two movie tickets) to watch the movie at home. Purchase of VOD movies generally happens on iTunes, Amazon, and other platforms. DC vs. Marvel VOD releases If this home video release seems quick, it is. For comparison, the last two Marvel superhero movies had nearly two months, not one, between theatrical release and VOD release. Thunderbolts* hit theaters on May 2, and was on VOD on July 1. Meanwhile, Captain America: Brave New World was in theaters on February 14, and on VOD on April 15. Both of those films were deemed, in the eyes of box office pundits, to be failures, while Superman is generally considered to be a success.

Cody Rhodes' latest prediction would ruin wrestling if it came true

Cody Rhodes has clawed his way to the top of the wrestling mountain. He's been cut. He's been at the bottom of a card. And, he's been around the block a few times, with stops at Ring of Honor, TNA, AEW (which he helped found), New Japan Pro Wrestling and, of course, WWE. So, when you see Rhodes at the top of the industry and as the face of the biggest wrestling brand on the planet, you know it was a long time coming. WWE, however, doesn't always reward that type of wrestling grind. You only need to look at Logan Paul and the push he's receiving from the company to understand that to them, being a wrestling lifer is far from a top priority. Paul is a YouTuber. He made his WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38. While his brother, Jake Paul, has played a role in the decline of boxing, Logan has decided to tarnish the wrestling profession instead. Yet, Rhodes believes that Logan Paul's ability to draw fans, impress with his athleticism and create an emotional response from the audience will likely mean that sooner or later, he'll be crowned a WWE world champion. “If he had just stepped in and was immediately as good as he was, I’d be furious," Rhodes said during a recent appearance on "The Bill Simmons Show" podcast. "One of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen. If you consider him a heel, that’s okay, he is as prickly as it gets...He took it as seriously as anybody ever. I have a feeling he is going to end up being World Champion or WWE Champion as some point. The internet will explode and we’ll be fine. He is very special.” There's no denying that Logan Paul is a talented in-ring performer. He's a natural athlete with great timing and a clear understanding of WWE's show production. However, he is not a wrestler. He hasn't been part of the indie scene or earned his stripes by doing guest spots at smaller, more localized promotions. Logan Paul is an influencer who can wrestle a little bit. He'd never be able to cut it in more wrestling-focused promotions such as AEW, New Japan or even one of WWE's recently acquired entities: Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. Making him a champion would be spitting in the face of all the wrestlers who have fought tooth and nail to be part of the industry. To the talents who have given their lives to perfecting the art form. Logan Paul would be the final nail in the coffin of WWE as a wrestling company, rather than being a show about wrestlers. Logan Paul is a good talent, so putting the United States Championship on him made sense. It's a mid-card belt for a mid-card wrestler. But, asking him to be one of the top faces in the company is a step too far, and one many wrestling fans should hope never happens.
