The 2025 MLB Draft Combine is underway in Phoenix, and Clemson Baseball is well represented, boasting several Tiger-connected names who are drawing serious buzz from scouts and executives.

Leading the way are electrifying freshman shortstop commit Dax Kilby and dynamic outfielder Cam Cannarella—two prospects whose performances at the combine could reshape Clemson’s 2025 roster plans.

Kilby, a polished left-handed hitting infielder from Newnan, Georgia, showcased his elite athleticism by posting a blazing 6.47-second 60-yard dash, ranking No. 4 overall among participants.

Alongside his speed, Kilby impressed with a 94 mph exit velocity, an 84 mph infield arm velocity, and a 1.60-second 10-yard split, signaling a rare combination of power, agility, and arm strength.

In 2024 Perfect Game competition, he slashed an outstanding .436 with 15 RBIs and earned MVP honors at the Perfect Game All-American Classic.

MLB.com currently ranks Kilby No. 79 among draft prospects but notes his potential to go as high as the second round if teams believe they can sign him away from Clemson. This uncertainty raises questions about whether the Tigers will ever see Kilby in an orange uniform, as his draft stock continues to soar.

Joining Kilby at the combine is Clemson’s highest-ranked prospect, outfielder Cam Cannarella, who sits at No. 39 on MLB.com’s top prospect list and is projected to go as high as No. 38 overall to the New York Mets.

Scouts praise Cannarella for his elite bat-to-ball skills, solid athleticism, and consistent contact ability, although some question his power potential and swing discipline. The 6-foot outfielder brings speed and agility, making him a threat on both offense and defense.

Clemson’s presence at the combine also includes standout transfer Ryan Wideman, ranked No. 155, and incoming left-handed pitcher Nick Frusco, who is currently unranked. Wideman, a 2024 All-American from Western Kentucky, has impressed scouts with his tools despite some concerns about his approach and contact quality.

This year’s MLB Draft Combine includes medical evaluations, interviews with club executives, and media opportunities.

As Clemson navigates the possibility of losing top talent like Kilby to the professional ranks, the program is already preparing for roster changes.

Former Appalachian State shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger recently committed to the Tigers after a breakout season in the Sun Belt, where he earned Freshman of the Year honors hitting .341 with 70 hits, 13 doubles, 3 home runs, and 44 RBIs.

The 2025 MLB Draft is scheduled for July 13–14 during All-Star Week in Atlanta. Clemson fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see which Tiger stars hear their names called—and how the outcome will impact the Tigers immediate future.
