Ali-Frazier. Holyfield-Tyson. Mayweather-Pacquiao. Skenes-Misiorowski. One of the most anticipated matchups we've seen in a long time came to pass on Wednesday afternoon and the young Milwaukee Brewers fireballer came out on top.

A sellout crowd of 42,774 piled into American Family Field, the largest crowd of the 2025 season, for a matinee matchup against the cellar-dwelling Pirates because of the duel between two young star pitchers in the sport. Paul Skenes, the reigning NL Rookie of the Year, for the Pirates against Jacob Misiorowski, the Top 100 prospect for the Brewers.

The matchup did not disappoint as Misiorowski continues to put the league on notice.

Misiorowski led off the festivities with 12 pitches of 100+ MPH in the first inning. He overpowered Spencer Horwitz with five straight 100+ MPH fastballs, including hitting 102 and striking him out.

That was the first of Misiorowski's eight strikeouts on the day. The largest crowd of the season at American Family Field roared with each and every one of them, knowing that what they're witnessing is special.

"That's what fired me up" Misiorowski said of the crowd, "almost every inning".

"It's like okay, all these people are here to watch, like, let's go." he added. "I think that was one of thoese things that you hear the roar of the crowd every pitch. You're like 'keep going', you know chasing that adrenaline rush."

The energy in the stadium not only propelled Misiorowski, but also propelled the Brewers offense as they got to Paul Skenes, the other headliner in this battle, for four runs in the 2nd inning.

A leadoff walk by Isaac Collins, back to back singles from Brice Turang and Caleb Durbin loaded the bases, then RBIs from Joey Ortiz, Eric Haase, Sal Frelick, and Christian Yelich gave the Brewers a 4-0 lead, and one they would not relinquish.

These two division rivals will have no shortage of matchups in the coming years. With these two star pitchers under team control for a while, it's likely there are more Misiorowski-Skenes matchups in the future. But Round 1? That one goes to Misiorowski and the Brewers.
