Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene has been on the injured list since the beginning of June with a groin strain.
On Wednesday, Greene faced five batters in a simulated game. Jim Day reported during Friday's game against the Phillies that the plan is for Greene to throw a simulated bullpen on Saturday and see how he feels.
“Felt good,” Greene told reporters. “I felt strong, feel like all my pitches were pretty solid today. Just had a lot of focus on trying to execute and get as game ready as possible.”
If all goes well, Greene could start a rehab assignment next week.
The Reds will build him back up slowly and it feels like the earlier Greene would be back with Cincinnati would be around the All-Star break.
