Jimmy Lambert will start the ballgame for the Chicago White Sox on Monday night when they square off against AL Central Division rival Cleveland. The news comes after the White Sox placed starting pitcher Mike Clevinger on the 15-Day IL with right wrist inflammation.
Lambert owns a 6.23 ERA on the year across 17.1 innings of work. It will be interesting how long Pedro Grifol will leave the right-hander in the ballgame. Lambert hasn't tossed more than one inning in any of his 19 appearances this season.
While he has yet to have a multi-inning appearance in 2023, it should be of note that Lambert has not appeared in a ballgame since May 12th. The righty will be on plenty of rest when he takes the mound for the Palehose.
The White Sox have also made a corresponding move to fill the injured Clevinger's roster spot. Jesse Scholtens has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte.
Scholtens has appeared in two ballgames with the big league club so far this season. He owns a 3.00 ERA with four strikeouts over three innings.
