Jose Canseco: Yankees' Aaron Judge should leave 'dump' New York

Retired slugger Jose Canseco took to Twitter late Monday night/early Tuesday morning to campaign for All-Star Aaron Judge to leave the New York Yankees via free agency.

"Run don't walk for the nearest exit get out of New York the place is a dump and the fans are awful," Canseco wrote in one tweet, as shared by Eric Samulski of AM New York Metro.

Canseco continued: "You are the God of baseball and the New York fans would have easily crucified you at times get out of there ASAP."

Canseco also referenced how Judge set a new American League single-season record of 62 home runs in 2022 en route to becoming an uncrowned Most Valuable Player.

"Even if you were to replicate the season you had this year again the fans would still hate you because you're making more money," Canseco said. "New York is known for the most psychologically damaged...angriest people in the world."

Canseco played in 37 games for the Yankees in 2000.

Canseco's social-media rant came amid multiple stories regarding a supposed "souring relationship between the Yankees and their fans."

Specifically, Judge heard boos at Yankee Stadium as he struggled at the plate during the AL Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians and again while the Bronx Bombers were swept by the Houston Astros in the AL Championship Series.

Judge rejected a seven-year, $213.5 million contract extension offer from the Yankees before the start of the season and remains set to hit free agency after the World Series concludes.

It was reported last week that "there appears to be some real concern within the Yankees' ranks about their chances to keep Judge" and also said that the 30-year-old could get a guaranteed contract of $500 million over 10 years after negotiations with other clubs.

For what it's worth, Canseco thinks the Yankees "will implode and then explode" next year:
