The New York Mets bounced back from a disappointing loss on Friday to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 on Saturday night at Citi Field. The victory was fueled by a dominant performance from starter David Peterson, who pitched 7.2 innings, allowing just two runs and striking out seven batters.

The Mets' offense came alive in the fourth inning, scoring three runs to overcome an early 2-1 deficit. Juan Soto came alive with a crucial two-run double that gave the Mets a 3-2 lead. This hit not only broke the tie but also marked a significant moment for Soto, who has been under scrutiny due to his recent struggles at the plate.

After the game, Soto was asked by FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal if he agrees with comments his manager Carlos Mendoza made about him. When informed that Mendoza called him "one of the unluckiest hitters in the game" this season, Soto made it clear his batted ball outcomes are simply part of baseball.

"It's just baseball," Soto said with a laugh. "It just happens. Sometimes you hit the ball hard and you find it, sometimes you hit it soft and you find the hole. It's just baseball. I just call it baseball."

Since signing a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets, Soto has faced challenges adjusting to his new team and the expectations that come with such a deal. Entering Saturday's game, he was batting .236 with eight home runs and 21 RBIs over 182 at-bats.

Critics have pointed to his performance with runners in scoring position and questioned his hustle during games. Despite these struggles, Soto's teammates and coaches have continued to support him, emphasizing the need for patience as he acclimates to his new environment.

The Mets will return to action against the Dodgers in the series finale on Sunday.
