Juan Soto Will Break Yankees Hearts This Weekend an Insider Predicts

Juan Soto knows what he will get Friday night. In his first trip back to Yankee Stadium since spurning the Bronx Bombers and signing a $765 million deal with the Mets, the 26-year old slugger knows emotions will be high in the stands. He will be booed. He will be heckled. He will be jeered.

But, The Bergen Record’s Mets beat writer Andrew Tredinnick thinks this is the type of situation that will inspire the best in Soto.

According to Tredinnick’s oddly specific forecast, it won’t take long for Soto to answer the Bronx jeers. He predicts that In his second at-bat of Friday’s series opener, Soto will unload a 405-foot, two-run home run off Carlos Rodón, planting it into the second deck in right field and deflating the Bronx crowd before the weekend drama even has a chance to fully build.

And it doesn’t stop there.

On Saturday, Tredinnick sees Soto playing the villain again. This time, he predicts a go-ahead solo shot off Mark Leiter Jr., a blast into the Mets’ bullpen in left-center during the seventh inning to secure the Mets’ first win of the series.

It’s the kind of script Yankees fans might even expect.

After all they saw how Soto responded to the big moments last season. The 26-year-old hit .288 with a .989 OPS, slugged 41 home runs, scored 128 runs, and set career highs in hits (156) and walks (132) with the Yankees last year. He reached base in 147 of 162 games. He also hit four home runs in the Yankees run to the 2024 World Series.

But, Soto has never been the villian in a hostile environment like Yankee Stadium when it's fired up.
