Julio Rodriguez Owns The Year’s Most Impressive Home Run
Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Julio Rodriguez has provided the Seattle Mariners with a bit of spark as of late.

Ever since making his debut on April 8, the Mariners rookie has been locked in.

He’s hit some big home runs, has gotten some extra base hits, and he’s also stealing some bases as well.

On Monday, as the Mariners took on the San Diego Padres, Rodriguez hit a long home run.

With the Mariners leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Sean Manaea left a pitch up and Rodriguez did not miss it.

The Mariners posted the highlight on Twitter and had a clever caption to describe the moment.

Welcome To The J-Rod Show

Rodriguez did not miss it.

The J-Rod show is in full swing, and Rodriguez is making a very strong case to be named the American League Rookie of the Year when the season is over.

It may have been his only hit yesterday, but he sure made it count.

Rodriguez is hitting .275 with 15 home runs, 43 RBI, and an .824 OPS.

He’s showing the baseball world what he’s capable of and is having himself quite the rookie season.

The Mariners were well under the .500 mark less than a week ago, but now, thanks in large part to Rodriguez’s hot start, the Mariners are finding themselves right back in the mix, sitting at 40-42 and just four games back of the third AL Wild Card spot.

This would be a good time for the Mariners to snap their playoff drought.

With Rodriguez hitting the way he is, a postseason appearance for the club could help strengthen his Rookie of the Year case.

There’s still a long way to go, but Rodriguez sure looks like the favorite to win the award.
