Jurickson Profar on the reception he’ll receive from Braves fans

2025 is quickly making 2024 look like a walk in the park, with the latest kick in the groin being a fractured elbow for Spencer Schwellenbach, who will be sidelined until at least September.

That certainly feels like the nail in the coffin for the Braves. 7.5 games back in the wild card race isn’t impossible to overcome, but Atlanta is now without four of their best starting pitchers, and they are currently 24th in runs scored. Unless something changes drastically offensively, there’s virtually no way they will even get back to .500, let alone make a legitimate push for October.

It’s a bummer, especially given the one glimmer of hope many Braves fans were grasping onto was the return of Jurickson Profar, which is taking place today. The switch-hitting outfielder is coming off an 80-game suspension for PEDs, and while nobody in Atlanta is happy about it, it would have been easy to overlook had he returned and helped turn around what’s been an anemic offense.

However, until Jurickson Profar starts helping the Braves win games, it’s not likely that he’s well received around Truist Park, which he commented on ahead of his return against the Angels.

It’s the right attitude, but a good attitude won’t be enough to change the opinions of the people in Braves Country. As of today, he’s nothing more than a cheat that stole $42 million from the Atlanta Braves.

That alone is sickening, but perhaps even more vile, Jurickson Profar is the reason we all had to watch Jarred Kelenic, Bryan De La Cruz, Eli White, and Alex Verdugo start every day for the last three months. That is grounds for imprisonment in my book.
