The last 12 months or so have been a non-stop kick in the groin for Braves Country, and that continued on Monday when it was announced Jurickson Profar will be suspended for the next 80 games for violating the league’s policy against PEDs.

A tale as old as time, “I can’t believe these growth hormones snuck into my cereal!” That’s about as believable as a unicorn sighting at Truist Park.
This is not the start anybody envisioned for Jurickson Profar’s tenure with the Braves, who signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the club this offseason. He will not be eligible to return until early July, and to make things even worse, he will be ineligible for the postseason.
That’s yet another need Alex Anthopoulos will have to consider closer to the trade deadline, but with the way this season has begun, the Braves might not even be thinking about the playoffs in a few months. For now, they will be relying on a combination of Jarred Kelenic, Stuart Fairchild, Alex Verdugo, and Bryan De La Cruz in their outfield until Ronald Acuña Jr. returns.
