Oklahoma City pitcher Justin Wrobleski (4) pitches during the home opener Minor League baseball game between the Oklahoma City Comets and the El Paso Chihuahuas at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned Landon Knack prior to their series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Knack returns to the Minors after an extended stay in the Dodgers rotation because of injuries and one day removed from laboring against the New York Mets. He gave up a career-high-tying three home runs, though managed to limit each of them to solo shots.

“Just getting behind guys,” Knack said of his home run trouble. “The second two, got behind and had to get in there, and they got me. The (Pete) Alonso one, just pulled a heater down, and that’s right where he likes it. Just got to continue to get ahead of guys.”

Knack additionally set a career high with five walks while completing just 3.1 innings. It was a disappointing outing after he pitched six innings in back-to-back starts, one of which was against the Mets at Citi Field.

Because the Dodgers were able to mount a late rally, they improved to 6-3 in games Knack has pitched in this season. Two of those were relief appearances.

“This team is full of dogs. For the bullpen to come in there and really hold it right there, and the bats, you know they can always swing it,” Knack said. “So we’re never out of a game. Seeing them go and do that, fight all the way back, was awesome.”

Knack is 3-2 with a 5.12 ERA, 6.18 FIP and 1.47 WHIP with the Dodgers this season. He’s gone 1-0 with a 3.98 ERA in four games (three starts) for Oklahoma City so far this year, but hasn’t pitched for the Dodgers’ affiliate since May 1.

Justin Wrobleski making start

Wrobleski joins the Dodgers to make what’s likely to be a spot start against the Cardinals. The team was considering recalling a pitcher from Triple-A or going with a bullpen game in the series opener at Busch Stadium.

Because of Knack’s short outing, the Dodgers opted for a traditional starter in the form of Wrobleski. The left-hander is up with the team for a fourth time this season.

Wrobleski was on the Opening Day roster for the Tokyo Series and previously got recalled in April and May. He allowed eight runs to the Washington Nationals during a spot start in place of the injured Blake Snell, but threw four scoreless innings during a relief appearance last month.

Wrobleski has gone 1-1 with a 5.09 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in nine games (eight starts) for the Comets so far in 2025.
