9:00 a.m.: The Kansas City Royals, eager to turn their fortunes around in the American League Central, continued adding on Saturday morning, signing veteran infielder Adam Frazier to a one-year deal.

The report came from Jon Heyman of the New York Post:

Adam Frazier has a deal with Royals. One year deal.

It's been an aggressive offseason for Kansas City, who has now added Frazier, Michael Wacha, Hunter Renfroe Seth Lugo, Chris Stratton and Will Smith this offseason, giving out more than $100 million in guaranteed contracts.

The Royals finished last in the American League Central last season with the second-worst record in all of baseball, so they are clearly trying to turn the corner as they build around young superstar Bobby Witt. Frazier and Witt will make up the double play combo for Kansas City in 2024, but Frazier can also play the outfield if necessary.

Frazier, 32, is a veteran of eight years who started his career with the Pirates. He played for Pittsburgh from 2016-2021, making the All-Star Game in 2021. He was traded that season to the San Diego Padres and then ended up in Seattle in 2022 and Baltimore in 2023.

He's been to the playoffs each of the last three years of his career with those organizations and will bring in some valuable playoff experience to a team looking to get back to October baseball for the first time since 2015.

Lifetime, Frazier is a .269 hitter with 56 homers. His best year was 2021 when he hit .305 overall. He's coming off a year in which he hit .240 for Baltimore.
