The Kansas City Royals got back in the win column last night with a 7-5 win over the Seattle Mariners. The Royals are now 3-7 in their last ten games, averaging 3.9 runs per game while also allowing 5.9 runs per game. The Royals, ahead of today’s series finale, placed right-handed pitcher Ryan Bergert on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow strain. They also placed outfielder Kyle Isbel on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain. To take the place of each player on the roster, the Royals are recalling right-handed pitcher Luinder Avila and outfielder John Rave.

Ryan Bergert

Bergert this season in 19 games, with 15 of those coming as starts, is 2-2 with a 3.66 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts in 76.1 innings. He made eight starts for the Royals this season, going 1-2 with a 4.43 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts in 40.2 innings.

Kyle Isbel

Isbel this season in 135 games hit .255 with a .654 OPS. He had 16 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 33 RBI, 42 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 23 walks.

Luinder Avila

Avila has appeared in eight games for Kansas City, going 1-0. He posted a 0.96 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 9.1 innings. He’s also pitched at High-A Quad Cities and Triple-A Omaha, making 17 appearances with 12 of those coming as starts. Avila went 2-3 with a 5.01 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts in 59.1 innings.

John Rave

Rave in 63 games with the Royals this season, hit .199 with a .609 OPS. He had five doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI, 17 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 16 walks. In 60 games at Triple-A, he hit .285 with an .888 OPS. He had 13 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 34 RBI, 57 runs scored, 19 stolen bases, and 32 walks.
