It took less than two innings for New York Mets announcer Keith Hernandez to run out of patience with San Francisco Giants fans on Friday night.
Hernandez and Gary Cohen called the Mets’ 8-1 victory at Oracle Park, though a third voice tried working their way into the broadcast. Viewers could hear a heckler throughout the game, and while their taunts were fairly clean, they still managed to irritate Hernandez.
Mets third baseman Ronny Mauricio fouled off a second-inning pitch from Logan Webb, leading the fan to yell, “THAT WAS A WEAK SWING!”
Simple, but still enough to get a sarcastic quip from Hernandez.
“Give that guy a hot dog so he can chew on something and shut up,” Hernandez said.

“I think he can hear you,” a laughing Cohen replied.
Good times, even more so when the Mets rock Webb — a two-time All-Star and one of the National League’s premier pitchers — for six runs in four innings.
Perhaps that Giants fan should turn his commentary to his own team. The Giants are only 22-24 since June 1, and they’ve dropped to seven back in the NL West. Although San Francisco entered Saturday only one game spot out of the NL’s third and final Wild Card spot, they’ll need to turn things around before it’s too late.
