A number of items of Kirby Puckett memorabilia are presently up for auction, including the jersey worn by the Minnesota Twins legend and Hall of Famer during one of the most memorable individual performances in World Series history.

A whopping 158 items related to Puckett, who passed away at the age 45 in 2006 from a stroke, are currently up for bid in an online auction operated by Minnesota-based Vintage Sports Authentics. Auction house owner Steve Jensen told Paul Walsh of the Star Tribune that Puckett’s former wife, Tonya Puckett, and her two children “want to sell because of the vast amount of space and storage fees.” He also relayed the Pucketts are not selling the items out of any financial need.

“At the end of last year, they took it out of climate-controlled storage,” Jensen said. “This is something that had been building up over the years.”

Easily the most coveted item available in the auction is without question Puckett’s jersey from Game 6 of the 1991 World Series, which many hail as one of the best Fall Classics in MLB history.

The center fielder’s heroics, including a legendary leaping grab at the fence and a game-winning home run over the Atlanta Braves, forced a Game 7 which the Twins would go on to win thanks to starting pitcher Jack Morris’ dominant performance.

Puckett’s round-tripper in the bottom of the 11th inning inspired legendary broadcaster Jack Buck’s iconic call, “And we will see you … tomorrow night!”

Jensen said there’s “no way to know for sure” what Puckett’s Game 6 jersey will ultimately net in auction, but as of Thursday afternoon, the current bid is just under $20,000.
