Just over 40 games into the MLB season, some teams have already exceeded expectations, while others have been clear disappointments.

The National League has been extremely competitive so far with teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and New York Mets to name a few.

Then there's the Cincinnati Reds. With a record of 20-22, their season hasn't been terrible, but as of recently, they have struggled to put together consistent baseball.

Winning just four of their first 11 games in the month of May, their bats have gone silent this month and it has been noticed by one of their most known fans.

Kirk Herbstreit goes public on his frustrations with Reds

As Cincinnati has gone cold this month, fans and insiders have noticed this and Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN's College GameDay spoke on his anger with his favorite team.

"Another year and another year of inconsistent hitting. Same thing for last 12 years – season essentially over in early May. How can a team NOT HIT for TWELVE YEARS?!?!??" Herbstreit spoke after the Reds 6-0 loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday.

The Reds currently have a team batting average of .221, slugging percentage of .349 and a .671 OPS while hitting nine home runs and 43 RBIs in the month of May.

It doesn't help that the team has dealt with some unfortunate injuries as well – players like starting pitcher Hunter Greene, third baseman Noelvi Marte, second baseman Tyler Calihan and outfielder Jake Fraley have all managed to find themselves on the injured list.

It's safe to say that Herbstreit can be talking for the rest of the fanbase when showing his frustration with the Reds.

Although their season isn't exactly over, it will be up to themselves to find a way to flip their season around and get back on the more successful side of a .500 winning percentage.
